How Votaroo works
How do I start a vote?
Tap "Start a vote," name it, and choose where: near you, somewhere else, or the sample deck. Then share the link or code with your group.
Do my friends need the app?
No. Anyone with the link can vote in their browser at votaroo.app. They just enter a name.
How do I vote?
Swipe right (or tap the heart) for yes and left for no. Swipe up for Must go!, which counts double, and down for Hard pass, which takes an option off the table for everyone. You get one Must go! and one Hard pass per vote.
When is there a match?
"Majority wins" picks the first option most of the group likes. "Everyone agrees" needs every person to like it. "Beat the clock" picks the top score when time runs out. A vote needs at least two people. If picks tie for the win, Roo spins a wheel between them.
What if nothing matches?
If everyone has voted on every option and nothing qualified, the vote ends with no match. Tap "Deal a new round" for fresh places (plus last round's favorites) with the same crew and rules; everyone gets a heads-up. For a restaurant vote, the person who started it deals, since only their device knows where to look. Or start a new vote with a bigger area or a different craving.
Why does it ask for my location?
Only for "Near me," to find places around you. It is used once for the search and not stored. Pick "Somewhere else" to type a place instead.
Can we vote on something other than food?
Yes. When you start a vote, pick "My own options" and type in anything from 2 to 30 choices: movies, weekend plans, team names. Everyone swipes on them the same way.
Where do the restaurants come from?
From Google Maps, sorted by popularity. Check hours and prices with the place before you go.
Your account
Sign in and open the account page in the app or at votaroo.app to see your votes, change your name, sign out, or delete your account.
Delete your information
Delete your account from the account page, or email support@votaroo.com with the vote's code and your display name and we'll delete your votes and name from it. See the Privacy Policy for more.
